Schkeuditz, Saxony

Schkeuditz is a so-called Great District Town. It is located halfway between Leipzig and Halle (Saale). Both motorway A14 and A9 meet at the Schkeuditz junction. Today, Leipzig-Halle Airport is located at Schkeuditz Airport, which was founded in 1927. The city's economic development is determined by Leipzig-Halle Airport. With just slightly more than 17,000 inhabitants, it is not surprising that there are around 814 jobs in Schkeuditz for every 1,000 inhabitants. Following the development of the airport after 1990, numerous companies from the logistics sector settled here. For example, Deutsche Post operates a letter and parcel center here, while DHL has set up its European air cargo hub with the DHL Hub Leipzig, together with the aircraft maintenance facility European Air Transport Leipzig (as seen from the B6, as large as its own city). There is also the cargo airline Aerologic, a joint venture between DHL and Lufthansa Cargo. Schkeuditz is also known for his hospitals: In the suburb of Altscherbitz there are two of them, the Helios Clinic Schkeuditz and the Saxon Hospital Altscherbitz.
