We quote - a second time after 2014 - from the marketing-wise unsuspicious property market report of the City of Leipzig for 2019:
""With about 76 percent of all transactions (about 30 percent of the total turnover), this sub-market "condominiums" dominates the purchase case figures of the Leipzig real estate market, similar to other large cities. The resale of refurbished condominiums takes a prominent position with a share of about 70 percent of all condominiums. The average purchase price of refurbished condominiums in first sale (excluding parking space) rose by 11 percent in 2019 to around EUR 4,500 per square meter of living space. Prices ranged from around 2,700 to 6,200 euros per square meter of living space. When reselling refurbished apartments (without parking space), the price range is from around 420 to 4,700 euros per square meter of living space. The average amount of all prices evaluated was 1,821 euros per square meter of living space, 12 percent higher than in the previous year. Condominiums in newly built residential complexes (including parking space) achieved an average purchase price of 4,288 euros per square meter of living space in 2019 (around 3,000 to 6,500 euros per square meter of living space) and were thus 4 percent higher than in the previous year. The average resale price (including parking space) was EUR 1,907 per square meter of living space (+7 percent) in a range of around EUR 600 to 6,800 per square meter of living space. While around 94 percent of the buyers of first-time sales of condominiums in renovated older buildings were not from Leipzig, around 34 percent were resident in Leipzig at the time of resale. In the case of new buildings (first sale), the proportion of buyers resident in Leipzig is around 25 percent (resale around 36 percent). The proportions shown are almost identical in recent years."
